In the foreground is a picture of Harold I. Sloper, who reported in to the pre-commissioning detail at the Philadelphia Naval yard on March 31, 1941, as senior enlisted man for the 5th Division. The blue circular pin on the card (Top left) is his pre-commissioning ID, which identified the crew and allowed them access to the ship before the commissioning. Also in the display is his wife's Grace I. Sloper pass to the commissioning ceremony on May 15, 1941. Harold also blew the boatswain's pipe as part of the commissioning ceremony.
