BIBLIOGRAPHY

Reviewers and readers have remarked that this page lacks a bibliography. That's a fair criticism, so I'm going to address it.

First, this page had no bibliography because of its humble origins and purposes. Remember that this was originally merely to entertain 50 or so Sailors and New Zealand military personnel and civilians in a small unit. Anyone who had a question could always phone me at my extension or corral me in the mess hall.

Now that I have a slightly larger audience, I'm offering a bibliography, which will only cover subjects the page has covered. It will expand as I cover additional subjects. A separate essay will discuss my methodology and evaluation of sources.

Note that some books appear in two areas, because they cover several subjects.

Special Mention: The entire Ballantine Illustrated History of the Second World War/ The Violent Century, Ballantine Books, 1971-1976. This series of books is listed in its own category.

After The Battle magazine, which gives highly-detailed articles on World War II battles and battlefields as they were during the war and as they are today (or at the time the article was written). It also runs superb articles researching the fates of everything from convicted military offenders to crashed Halifax bombers. It is a vital resource for anyone studying the war.
