USS Washington BB56
Running post-overhaul trials and bow replacement in
Puget Sound, Washington, on 10 September 1945.

When you look at the USS Washington you’re probably overwhelmed with just how much work plus parts went in to its making. These are no mere cheap auto parts from the likes of partsgeek.com or other parts service. Where talking heavy duty steel in this case. To give you an idea on just how big this ship was, it was powered by eight three-drum express-type boilers. No small boat..not a boat at all. Even though the ship had some close calls it suffered no losses during hostile action due to its sturdy hull. Quite the amazing feat!
