DUNCAN K. LOVE

Online Log Book entry on 12/11/2011

I am a retired Marine working in Manila American Cemetery. We have just under 54,000 American WWII Casualties either buried on site or memorialized if their body was not recovered. One of the names on our Wall of Missing is Fire Controllman 1st Class Duncan K. Love, Jr. He died while a member of the crew on the USS Washington 11 April 1943. Is there any archives information or perhaps some shipmates in communication who might remember the circumstances of his death. His records do not show a

Purple Heart but sometimes that is an ommission. I would greatly appreciate any assistance in founding out his cause of death. Thank You

WILLIAM F. SCHOENER, EM 3c died on the USS Washington 11 October 1944. This should have been while on the move from Okinawa to Taiwan while supporting carrier strikes. I work in Manila American Cemetery where he is memorialized. Does any of the membership alumi know or Association records show whether he was killed in action by an air attack or died in an on board accident. What was his cause of death.

Thank you for any assistance with this matter. I can be reached at caloudb@abmc.gov
