Lloyd S. "Bud" Sipe Jr.
HICKORY - After a period of declining health, our dear father and grandfather, Lloyd S."Bud" Sipe Jr., quietly and peacefully joined his loving wife of 59 years, Geraldine "Jerry" Bollinger Sipe, in heaven on July 15, 2010. Bud was born Dec. 27, 1928, in Hickory, the son of the late Lloyd S. Sipe Sr. and Texie Martin Sipe. Bud served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Washington. He was a lifelong resident of Hickory and the owner of Bud's Body Shop for 35 years. Bud was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a lifetime member of the Catawba Wildlife Club. He was a longtime member of West Hickory Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. In his later years, he enjoyed golfing, gardening and spending time with his three grandsons. Bud loved his family dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine "Jerry' Sipe; sisters-in-law, Edna Bollinger and Helen Bollinger Black. Bud is survived by daughters, Sharon L. Sipe of Asheville and Tammy Sipe Dyke and husband, Elmer, of Duluth, Ga.; grandsons, David Spain Jr of the U.S. Marine Corps and Asheville, and Jacob Wayne Dyke and Stephen Lloyd Dyke of Duluth, Ga.; sister, Marie Sipe Murphy of Newton; brother-in-law, Paul E. "Bud" Bollinger of Hickory; and nieces, Patricia Black Lisk, Billy Jean Black Earwood, Kelly Black McKinley of Charlotte and Linda Truitt of Sanford; nephew, Michael Murphy of Newton; and special family friend, Randy Geter.
